JCC Police Plan Project Lifesaver Car Show: 2010 Project Lifesaver Car Show May 15 from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Warhill High

The James City County Police Department and the Classic Cruisers Car Club have joined forces to present the 2010 Project Lifesaver Car Show May 15 from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Warhill High School.

Proceeds will be used to support Project Lifesaver – a program that provides a small radio transmitter to people who are in danger of wandering away from home and becoming lost as a result of autism, Alzheimer’s disease or other disorders. The transmitter, typically worn on the wrist or ankle, emits an individualized tracking signal that can be used by local police to locate the individual and help them return home.

Project Lifesaver is available in 45 states and has helped over 2,100 people return home since 1999. James City County Police administer the local program along with Williamsburg Police and the Williamsburg/James City County Sheriff’s Department.

“The biggest benefit of Project Lifesaver for the families is the peace-of-mind they get from having it”, according to Emmett Harmon, James City County Police Chief. “The Police Department and the community benefit because we are able to avoid the potential costs of conducting a full scale search when an enrolled client is lost.” 

Project Lifesaver is offered at no cost to residents as a result of grants, donations from the community and special events such as the Car Show.
