I-664 NORTH MONITOR-MERRIMAC MEMORIAL BRIDGE-TUNNEL APPROACH BRIDGE LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW

SUFFOLK – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close a single northbound lane on the approach bridge to the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel (MMMBT) tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 29, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for traffic management maintenance operations. Motorists should expect delays and intermittent traffic stoppages for up to 15 minutes throughout the duration of the lane closure.

VDOT crews will close the left, northbound lane from the MMMBT approach bridge to one-half mile prior to the entrance of the tunnel. Intermittent traffic stoppages are necessary to allow crews access to Closed Caption Television (CCTV) cameras for repair and maintenance.

VDOT makes every effort to schedule maintenance and construction activities during times which have the least impact on the motoring public. The heaviest travel periods in our region occur Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
