Animal Cruelty Charges Sought In Case Of Dumpster Puppy in Virginia Beach

On Sunday March 14, at 2:30 pm, a Virginia Beach Animal Control Officer received a case at the Food Lion Grocery Store located at 3208 Holland Road (Intersection of Holland Road & Shipps Corner Road).  She was told that there was an abandoned puppy inside the dumpster.  When the officer approached the dumpster, she could hear a puppy yelping.  The officer was able to retrieve the 5 week old black and white female pit bull puppy.  The puppy was taken to an emergency veterinarian but unfortunately the puppy did not survive.

It was determined that the dumpster had been emptied at approximately 8 am that morning.
